On Tuesday 23rd Feb, a tower crane jib fell down while working on the site of “The Parque” apartments. The incident happened around 3:15 afternoon at Prahran, Kilda Road site in Melbourne, Australia. The crane’s cabin swamped in the fire flame and further collapsed at the site. However, Metropolitan Fire swiftly swung into action and saved workers that were trapped.
The images show that dramatic moment when crane’s jib fell down on the site and damaged several cars and vehicles parked near to the street. The crew of Metropolitan Fire reached to the site on time and handled this tragic situation. The 12 construction workers were safely evacuated from the incident site. Best part is that no injuries were reported after this terrible incident.
The company said in the statement “Currently the site has been secured and deemed safe as the matter continues to be investigated. We can confirm that there is no further risk to the surrounding area.”
The case was investigated by Melbourne’s Metropolitan Fire Brigade and found that electrical short in the circuitry of battery terminal is reason of causing this accident.
