Weldex has updated its three crawlers so that, now, they have a range of trap diesel particulate filters (from Eminox) that can regenerate continuously. The addition of these filters makes the crawler complaint to be used in London’s low emission zone (LEZ).
Since the end of the third quarter of 2015, the Non-Road Mobile Machinery (NRMM) having the engines of a net power of 560kW and 37kW (which can be even used on any of the key development sites within Greater London) is needed to either meet the emission regulations of Stage IIIA or have the finest retrofit technology available; either of these two requirements is the bare minimum that is needed.
However, when the NRMM is used for any site that is falling within the Canary Wharf or the Central Activity Zone, it must meet the regulations of Stage IIIB; here, this requirement is the bare minimum.
Retrofitting Eminox’s filters within a Weldex’s crane has not only opened a cost-effective route to making it complaint to work in the NRMM Low Emission Zone of London but also made it fast. Also, another piece of good news is that these mobile filters can easily and quickly get installed on London LEZ sites; this surely keeps a construction contractor’s downtime to a minimum.
