Load Systems International Crane Anti Collision on the Burj Tower

What is an anti collision system? In simple terms, it helps prevent the collision of two different cranes when they are working simultaneously. A successful anti collision warning system can track other cranes properly and ensure that optimum speed and distance is kept from each other.
One of the top factors in crane accidents is the absence of a proper anti collision system. With the growing awareness of crane accidents, the importance of an effective anti collision system has risen, especially when there are large projects to be done and plenty of cranes working simultaneously. Here is how LSI installed great anti collision systems in the Burj Tower.
The first anti-collision system in the UAE
The first ever anti collision system in the entire United Arab Emirates was installed by Load System International (LSI) in the Dubai Mall and the Dubai Mall Hotel Site, based in the Shariah Airport Free Zone (SAFZ). The decision to do this was because all eight cranes in the area were prone to danger. Every crane has a field that can extend its reach and all eight of the cranes fields were intersecting.

This was a high accident risk situation. So to remove potential interference issues, the anti collision system was installed. The anti collision system dramatically reduced safety risks and also increased productivity on the site. When tower crane zoning is defined, each operator can operate without worrying about a collision or disturbing other cranes.

Talking numbers
Twenty thousand dollars may sound like a lot to spend on an anti collision system but it’s quite low compared to cranes that are ten times the price, especially when there are multiple cranes involved then an anti collision system is very much so needed. What we are really talking about here is protecting multiple $200,000 investments with just a fraction of the price – not to mention the countless lives it will save. Such systems are even more essential in a place like Dubai that has over 30,000 cranes. To put that into perspective, that is twenty four per cent of all the cranes in the world. The accident rates are climbing higher and higher with each passing day. Putting that into a cost-benefit analysis, it is easy to see that you get back much more than you put in. At such a time, taking unnecessary risks is unwise, and it is not a bad investment to have an anti-collision system in place.

LSI is the first in installing this system in the UAE and is lobbing for a law that will improve conditions at collision sites. For two years LSI has been in the market and has already made its mark as a standard. LSI is a symbol of reliability in construction related areas and is a paramount care taker for safety issues that are not being openly addressed.
